    This community is comprised of professionals from various backgrounds in various stages of their careers. We are all here because we are passionate about providing high quality and compassionate health care. In order to continue supporting patients and fellow providers, it is critical that members of this community adhere to the following Code of Conduct.

    • Respect everyone.
    Your tone in the forums should match the way you’d speak with someone in person with whom you share mutual respect. If you can’t find a polite way to convey your thoughts, step away and give another member a chance to take a crack at it.

    • Be welcoming, be patient, and be mindful in communications.
    Be courteous and warm to newcomers. They may not always know the rules, but you can help them learn! In all exchanges, have patience with others, we all have unique communication styles. Please keep in mind when posting that digital communication is inherently tricky and lends itself to misinterpretation. As such, please post appropriately and always give other members the benefit of the doubt.

    • Mind your manners.
    Sure, sometimes it’s easy to rattle off a response quickly without a care for seeming “polite.” A little bit of effort on your part to be polite and courteous will not only ensure people interact with each other in a friendly manner, but it will set a good example for other members.

    With that said, rudeness will not be tolerated. If you see any of the following (or other objectionable behaviors), please flag them:
    Name-calling: Focus on the post and the topic, not the person posting it.
    Bigotry of any kind: Language likely to offend or alienate individuals or groups based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. (These are only examples. If you have any uncertainty as to how a comment will be received, please rephrase or refrain).
    Harassment or bullying: If you see a hostile interaction, flag it. If it keeps up, disengage — we’ll handle it.

    Failure to reflect these values in your behaviors and interactions will result in reprimand. In the case of repeated infractions and multiple reprimands, moderators will be forced to take additional actions including suspending and ultimately banning your account. Let’s make sure it never comes to this! We invite you to join us in creating a respectful and professional community; so, let’s keep things civil and positive and we won’t have a problem.
