Concerned Citizens take action
ACT NOW TO SUPPORT PATIENTS IMPACTED BY HURRICANES

Many patients have lost access to prescription medications and medical supplies they desperately need. We are calling for the activation of the Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP), which allows over 70,000 pharmacies across the country to process claims for certain prescriptions, medical supplies, vaccines, medical equipment for patients in disaster areas at no cost to the pharmacies.

According to the EPAP website, “Ensuring that people can access the drugs, medical supplies, vaccines and [medical equipment] that they rely on every day helps patients cope with a disaster more effectively and prevents stress on the healthcare system. This makes individuals and their communities better able to cope with disasters.”

TAKE ACTION TODAY

We have a letter template available. You can customize the message or send as is, either way, we need your help! Let’s send so many letters and calls for support that patient needs cannot be ignored! Those displaced by Harvey’s wrath have suffered enough. Join us in calling for action today!

Safe Drug Use After A Natural Disaster

The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at FDA offers the following information on the use of drugs (medicines) that may be affected by fire, flooding or unsafe water, and on the use of temperature-sensitive drugs when refrigeration is temporarily unavailable. After a natural disaster, it is important to inspect all drugs.
