July 2019 Message from the Director

Hello colleagues,

June was a busy month for the NICA team! We released the much-anticipated Minimum Standards of In-Office Infusion, and then welcomed over 500 industry leaders to Austin, Texas for #NICA2019!

Recap from NICA’s Inaugural Meeting

I would like to express my thanks to each of the attendees, exhibitors, and speakers who took time out of their schedules to be in Austin for our first meeting! I especially want to thank everyone for their understanding and flexibility as we already outgrew our space at the JW Marriott. Your patience did not go unnoticed and we are already planning to accommodate a larger crowd for #NICA2020.

If you wish to relive the #NICA2019 experience, we had a photographer on hand who captured some of the many memorable moments of the meeting. Click here to view photos of the event.

For those of you who attended and wish to review recordings of each session, Morgan Grubbs sent an email out to all attendees with a link to conference recordings and corresponding materials.

Minimum Standards for In-Office Infusion

As many of you may know, creating minimum standards for in-office infusion has been a high-priority goal for the past couple of years. With input from leaders in the infusion industry, I am excited to announce that we have created the first resource that outlines minimum standards of care for outpatient infusion providers to promote patient safety and consistent quality of care. You can download this free resource here.

Welcoming New Board Members

We are also pleased to announce the recent appointment of Kaitey Morgan, director of clinical operations at OI Infusion, and Charlie Schadewald, CEO of Wasatch Infusion, to the NICA Board of Directors. As two leaders in the in-office infusion space, NICA will benefit from the unique perspectives they offer and the enthusiasm they bring, not just to the organization, but to the whole infusion industry! Welcome, Kaitey and Charlie!

Whether you stayed the entire weekend during NICA’s meeting or took a moment out of your day to send us positive thoughts, your support is much appreciated. I am confident that with leaders such as yourselves in our midst, we are just beginning to make an impact in the lives of infusion patients and providers. I look forward to your continued support and collaboration.

Thank you for your time,

Brian Nyquist, MPH

Executive Director, National Infusion Center Association
